So far, we have mostly seen
Shane Nigam in ‘angry young man’ avatars on the big screen and his fans too have been recently expressing interest to watch him play a variety of characters.
Now, director Salaam Bapu is all set to bring that side of Shane out.
In his next directorial Aayirathonnam Raavu, which is a feel-good film, Shane will be seen, according to the director, “as a character with a pleasant face and personality.” In the movie, which is mostly shot in Dubai, he plays a character named Faizal.
Salaam tells us more, “Yes, he has been seen as a short-tempered character many times, and I wanted to break that. So, I have focused quite a bit on his characterisation in this film. His character hails from Malappuram, and is someone who moves to Dubai for work. But, what he witnesses is not the kind of Dubai which was in his dreams. The place he ends up in has a very different culture and hardly any Malayalis.”
The film’s leading lady is Dubai-based Malayali influencer Jumana Khan. “It’s her first film, and I picked her because she had the kind of face I was looking for in the character.” The director adds that the movie is also about friendship and attachments, which don’t turn into romance. The movie has about 40 days of shoot in Dubai and later, 10 days in Kerala.
